The sides are then cut to length, fitted to the slots cut in the Spanish Foot, and glued in place using a myriad of little wood triangles called “tentellones”, each of which is individually glued in place.  The sides are cut to the height needed for the desired back profile, and “kerfing” – wood strips sawed almost all the way through every quarter inch or so to make them flexible – is glued in place.  Common clothespins are the universally-used clamp for this operation.
